Terms of use
Last updated October 2026
The terms for using this site, the registry and the certification program, including what a certification does and doesn't promise.
1.Using this site
By using this website, the free parent course or the certification program, you agree to these terms. If you apply for certification you also agree to the code of conduct and the certification policies.
2.What certification means
A Certified Hockey Advisor has completed the Board's curriculum, passed the certification exam, cleared a background check and agreed to the code of conduct, and keeps the certification current each year.
Certification does not mean:
- that the Board endorses or supervises an advisor's individual advice;
- any promised result, such as a roster spot, scholarship, college commitment or draft position;
- that an advisor is a licensed or registered sports agent;
- that the Board is part of any agreement between an advisor and a family.
Families make their own decisions and should check an advisor's current status in the registry before relying on a card, website or stamp.
3.Advisor responsibilities
- Give accurate information in your application and keep your profile accurate.
- Follow the code of conduct and the laws that apply to your work, including state athlete-agent laws and NCAA rules.
- Use the certification stamp, certification ID and QR code only while your certification is active, and only as described in your certification kit. Stop using them if your certification lapses or is revoked.
- Complete the exam yourself, without outside help.
4.Fees
Certification fees, renewals and refunds are described in the certification policies. Payments are processed by Stripe.
5.The registry
The registry lists advisors whose certification is active. We may update or remove a listing, for example when a certification lapses, is suspended or is revoked, or when information turns out to be wrong.
6.Acceptable use
Please don't:
- copy the registry in bulk, or use it to market to advisors or families;
- pretend to be certified, or use the stamp, logo or a certification ID that isn't yours;
- share, copy or publish exam questions or answers;
- try to get into accounts or parts of the site that aren't yours;
- post false or misleading reviews.
7.Our name, marks and content
The Sports Advisors Board name and logo, the certification stamp, the curriculum, the courses and the exam belong to the Board. Certified advisors may display the stamp as allowed above. You may share links to the site and to advisor profiles freely.
8.Information, not legal advice
The courses and the rest of the site explain how hockey pathways, eligibility and advisor relationships generally work. They aren't legal, financial or eligibility advice for your situation, and rules such as NCAA and league rules change. Check with the governing body or a professional before acting on them.
9.Liability
We work to keep the site and registry accurate and available, but we provide them as they are. To the extent the law allows, the Board isn't responsible for an advisor's advice or conduct, or for decisions families make based on it.
10.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Any dispute about them will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
11.Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and email certified advisors about significant changes. Questions: hello@sportsadvisorsboard.com.
